This aerial shot shows the commercial boom in the Saint-Roch district in the first half of the 20th century. The tramway’s arrival in 1863 was one reason for the influx of people and commercial vitality. A number of department stores and cinemas opened thereafter, making Saint-Joseph Street a prime spot for commerce and culture.
