Attracting more than 632,000 spectators over the summer of Québec City’s 400th celebrations, the Image Mill painted a portrait of the city’s history in four parts. Over one hundred specialists were involved in creating the production. The show was such a success that bleachers were set up on the opposite bank of the St. Lawrence River, so people could watch in Lévis.

The 400th anniversary of the founding of Québec City in 2008

In 2008, Québec City celebrated the 400th anniversary of its founding with activities on the theme of “encounters.” The festivities kicked off on December 31, 2007, with a show at place d'Youville. Elles se poursuivent tout au long de l’année. Wildly successful, the 400th celebrations attracted around three million visitors to Québec City. A host of shows delighted audiences, particularly the Image Mill an innovative production by director Robert Lepage. The theme also gave pride of place to encounters with Indigenous Peoples, with the Huron-Wendat community named host nation of the 400th celebrations.
