This album, prepared by the Société d’art et d’histoire de Beauport, gives an insight into the day-to-day sports and leisure activities of the area during the 20th century. It reveals a community enjoying a host of sporting activities, which became more widespread in the area over time. The local historical roots of many sports can be seen, including swimming, hockey, skiing and cycling. In the late 1940s, the parish of La Nativité de Notre-Dame de Beauport wanted to create a place for young people to gather. Construction soon began on the Centre de Loisirs de Beauport, which was inaugurated in 1949. Various facilities were available, including a bowling alley, a movie theatre, a performance theatre and even an indoor swimming pool.
