In 1910, the community of Haut-du-Sault founded the parish of Saint-Louis-de-Courville. At first, mass was held in a barn. A church was soon needed to serve the population of 900. Three years later, the new place of worship was consecrated on a seven-acre plot that also included a cemetery and presbytery.

Religious life in Beauport

In the early 20th century, Quebec was one of the places in the world where the Catholic Church had the greatest influence. The lives of local people—especially the French-speaking community—were organized around Catholic rites.
