Acadians in Quebec: A monument inaugurated in 2002

August 15 is Acadia’s national holiday. On the occasion of the celebration in 2002, the Commission de la Capitale Nationale du Québec, in collaboration with the City of Québec and the Association Acadienne de la Région de Québec, unveiled the “Vers La Lumière” (towards the light) monument before the general public and elected officials. Paying tribute to Acadians’ contribution to the Quebec nation and culture, the piece features a lighthouse in the colours of the Acadian flag. This album invites you to relive this memorable day for Québec City’s Acadian community.
